Discover Budget Australia Accommodation: Enjoy Best Value Stay In Australia

There are some excellent value budget Melbourne accommodation options for backpackers/budget travellers in Melbourne. These can be found both in the Central Business District (CBD) and in outlying suburbs. This article reviews a backpackers' hotel in central Melbourne, and some reasonably priced apartments in the suburb of St. Kilda, just outside the centre.

On Little Collins Street in the city centre one can find the City Centre Budget Hotel. This is a small and relaxed hotel, offering good value and clean accommodation to guests travelling on a budget. This hotel is within a short walk of many Melbourne landmarks including Federation Square, the Crown Casino, and the tennis grounds at Melbourne Park, and the MCG (cricket).

A studio room here sleeps up to four people, in a double bed plus a bunk bed. Studio rooms have a fully equipped kitchen and ensuite bathroom. Family rooms at the City Centre Budget Hotel similarly sleep four persons, but do not have the kitchen, and only have shared bathroom facilities.

The City Centre Budget Hotel also offers twins and doubles, which have a fridge (bar sized) and tea/coffee facilities. Once again only shared bathrooms are available. All rooms at the City Centre Budget Hotel have TV and free broadband. Rooms are non-smoking. Communal laundry facilities are available for guests, and there is a rooftop garden, which has a shared kitchen attached.

The City Centre Budget Hotel is quite easy to get to. When arriving at Melbourne's airport (Tullamarine) take the Skybus to the city centre, and then change to the free shuttle bus to the hotel (22 Little Collins Street). From elsewhere in the city take either the train or the tram. By train, travel to Parliament Square and exit the station using the Spring Street exit. By tram, take a route along either Collins or Bourke Street, and get off at Spring Street. There is off street parking near the hotel for those arriving by car.

The proprietors and staff of the Budget Hotel are knowledgeable and friendly, and glad to help and advise budget travellers. The staff and owners can help with car rental (or purchase), booking tours, and finding work in Australia.

There are many serviced apartments for Melbourne visitors, and some are available at budget prices. In St. Kilda the EasyStay Serviced Apartments have six locations available in the bayside area, which is about ten minutes travel time from Melbourne centre. EasyStay apartments range in price from discount budget apartments to premium apartments.

The economy options from EasyStay are on Blessington, and on Raglan. The Raglan Street complex has one bedroom apartments. These can take up to four persons: double bed in the bedroom, and fold out bed in the lounge. Raglan Street apartments have a kitchen fully equipped with conventional and microwave ovens, full sized refrigerator and freezer.

Blessington Street apartments accommodate two or three persons. They are ideal for weekly stays. The kitchens at Blessington Street have gas oven, microwave oven, fridge and freezer. These apartments all have phone and TV, and are located in central St. Kilda.
